Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Cut Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the precision cutting and preparation of Dura composite products using a range of machinery, including table saws, cross-cut saws, spindle moulders, wall saws, and chop saws. You will play a crucial part in supporting the fabrication process by cutting and palletising CNC components for assembly.

You will also provide occasional CNC operational support, drawing on previous experience to ensure production continues smoothly and efficiently. This position requires attention to detail, a proactive approach to machinery care, and a strong commitment to health and safety within a fast-paced environment.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:



Cutting and Preparation



Operate a variety of saws and cutting machinery (table, cross-cut, wall, spindle moulder, and chop saw) safely and accurately.

Prepare and palletise pre-cut CNC products ready for fabrication.

Read and interpret technical drawings to ensure all cuts meet specification and quality standards.

Work closely with CNC & Fabricators to ensure materials are delivered in the correct sequence and format for assembly.

CNC Operation



Set up and operate CNC machinery safely and accurately. Adjust cutting parameters to complete required cuts, grinds, and drills. Ensure all operations meet technical drawing tolerances and standards.

Machinery Care and Maintenance



Carry out daily inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of all cutting machinery.

Report faults or maintenance needs promptly to minimise downtime to supervisors.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the cutting area and ensure all tools and machines are kept clean and serviceable.

Support continuous improvement of machine setups, cutting processes, and safety practices.

Quality and Safety



Conduct in-process checks to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality compliance. Adhere to company Health & Safety policies, risk assessments, and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure all work areas are kept tidy and materials are handled safely and efficiently. Wear PPE at all times and comply with health & safety policies. Report hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately. Follow site risk assessments and suggest improvements where possible.

CNC Support (as required)



Provide backup CNC operation support when necessary, ensuring continuity of production.

Maintain familiarity with CNC processes and equipment.

Housekeeping & Maintenance



Maintain clean and organised work areas. Perform daily machine inspections, minor maintenance, and assist with servicing tasks. Dispose of waste and recycling appropriately.

General Duties



Complete training as required. Contribute to departmental goals and KPIs using Traction tools and weekly meeting outputs. Cover responsibilities during absences and support other fabrication areas when needed. Follow company procedures (ISO9001 compliance). Contribute to achieving departmental goals using the correct tools and equipment. Strong understanding of company and departmental vision, with all company processes (ISO9001: quality management system) and procedures followed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:



Excellent communication skills and professionalism to effectively liaise withal stakeholders.

Experience in CNC operation, working with cutting materials

Ability to contribute to solutions and proposals for problem solving.

Prepare and oversee all CNC and cutting machinery setup to make sure all areas are safe and ready to complete the assigned load.

Observe, adjust, and complete all cuts, grinds, or drilling of materials of CNC and cutting machinery as needed by adjusting speed, the path of the cut, and all other relevant factors.

Performs work by following Company Health and Safety Operating Standards, with regular machine inspection, and close attention to surroundings.

Regularly inspect, record and store documentation for machines for mechanical and safety issues.

Makes sure machines remain in service and ready to go at all times. Follow agreed cleaning and maintenance programs to minimize interruptions and downtime.

Knowledge of stock rotation procedures and inventory management (ISO9001 compliance is a plus).

Strong commitment to following health and safety regulations and wearing PPE.

Basic understanding of equipment maintenance requirements.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks accurately.

Good organisational skills to manage daily duties and contribute to a clean work environment.

Team player mentality with the ability to collaborate effectively.
