Job Purpose: To organise activities and establish programmes within the home that satisfies client's social, cultural, religious and recreational interests and needs
OPERATIONAL DUTIES
Recognise the importance of social activities, creativity and stimulation for the residents to increase motivation, promote independence and give a sense of enjoyment, achievement and fulfilment
Document, and regularly review, a full Activities Care Plan for each resident
Document details of every activity that occurs on individual resident records; date of activity, what the activity entailed, comments about the resident's participation/enjoyment of activity, for the care plans
Establish bespoke programmes for individuals, based on their specific requirements, as well as a programme of group activities.
Individually communicate with all residents to evaluate and assess Quality of Life needs
To always be alert to residents physical and mental well being, immediately reporting any changes in a resident's condition to a senior person on duty
To respect and maintain confidentiality of resident's personal information at all times
Assisting residents with their meals, should they require some help or encouragement to eat.
Keep up-to-date with any changes to care needs or dietary requirements of residents
To make sure that all residents are safe and have a safe environment when mobilising, and that the correct techniques/equipment are used to support them.
To wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as provided by the company e.g. gloves/aprons/goggles/masks, when required.
To answer the telephone and greet visitors at the door in a professional and courteous manner. Offer refreshments to visitors
WORKING WITHIN THE TEAM
Take an active part in staff meetings and relative/residents meetings.
Liaise with colleagues to ensure the suitability of outings/entertainments are in accordance with residents abilities/needs
Liaise with colleagues when assistance with escorts is required for trips.
Ensure colleagues aware of activities in order that medications etc can be prepared.
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure all activities are paid for and receipts available for audits as per individual Homes practice
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ensure you are familiar with the Health and Safety Policy within the home
Ensure you are fully conversant with the fire drill and fire safety procedures within the home
Assist in the evacuation of residents in the event of fire.
Ensure you are familiar with fire fighting equipment in the home
Reporting to trained/senior staff any illness or accident that may occur during activities
SPECIFIC JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Full driving license preferable as the post holder may be instructed to take residents on social outings, to medical appointments, or need to pick up materials for activity sessions as required
Organise and attend residents' meetings to discuss entertainments and activities
To assist with the organisation of any Coffee mornings, Open Days, Summer Fayres and other fund raising or marketing activities within the home
To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required by the Management within the framework of the post.
As an employee of Care Homes UK you must be conversant with Fire Procedures and must take reasonable care for your own safety, the safety of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
You must understand and comply with requirements such as Infection Control, Fire Safety, Health & Safety, COSHH, SOVA, all aspects of the Health & Social Care Act, to maintain a safe environment throughout the home.
