The Role





To manage and grow the gallery's social media presence across established and emerging platforms, ensuring a brand-consistent voice that resonates with global audiences.




With a focus on channel strategy, audience differentiation, long-term growth and daily management, the Social Media & Content Manager will lead the gallery's social media output and oversee the creation of high-quality, on-brand digital content tailored to each platform and audience segment. At the heart of the role is supporting and amplifying the voices of the gallery's artists organically, ensuring their work and perspectives are communicated authentically and strategically to diverse audiences worldwide.




Key objectives include building awareness and loyalty across social media, developing and delivering platform-focused strategies, and driving engagement through carefully planned, strategic campaigns.




Working closely with a cross-departmental Content Team, as well as Digital Marketing and Editorial, the Social Media & Content Manager will be responsible for ensuring all platforms and workflows are managed effectively.

Management within a communications, marketing or content team. Demonstrable experience working with artists / creatives. Knowledge of the contemporary art world and its audiences. Deep knowledge of platforms, digital communities and emerging trends. Strong campaign planning and digital strategy skills with experience collaborating cross-departmentally. Skilled in community management, building relationships with audiences, influencers, and artists. An understanding of paid social advertising and familiarity with scheduling tools and developing easy to campaign analytics. Highly organised and able to balance strategy with hands-on execution across multiple campaigns. An understanding of the nuances between professional, collector-focused audiences (LinkedIn, email, long-form video) and broader, culturally engaged audiences (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube). Attention to detail and ability to write and edit engaging, on-brand copy.

Strategy



Develop and execute differentiated strategies for each platform (Instagram, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.), recognising the distinct audiences, behaviours, and opportunities of each. Define clear audience goals per platform (e.g. engagement, awareness, or conversion), ensuring content is audience-appropriate and strategically aligned. Align content priorities with exhibition openings, art fairs, artist milestones, and key brand moments, ensuring nuanced messaging for different audience groups. Develop the gallery's social media influencer strategy alongside the Content Producer and Digital Marketing Manager, exploring opportunities to work with a range of established and emerging creators relevant to the gallery's target audience groups and brand objectives. Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager to run effective paid social campaigns that complement organic content and further the gallery's strategic objectives. Act as the gallery's main point of contact for partnerships, ensuring all collaborations are aligned with the gallery's objectives. Oversee the global video content budget with input from Content Producer and Video Editor.


Platforms/Campaigns



Maintain a social media schedule that complements wider communications and marketing schedules. Use project management tools (e.g. Trello) to oversee the development and distribution of copy and visually striking assets tailored to each platform. Partner with the Digital Marketing Manager to develop and optimise content for paid social and email campaigns. Oversight of all content plans and opportunities via Content Producer.


Innovation & Growth



Identify opportunities to connect with new demographics and geographies through platform innovation and influencer partnerships. Test emerging platforms and tools and propose new creative formats. Experiment with new features to ensure the gallery remains innovative and present new platform opportunities to the communications team. Stay ahead of broad digital trends and art-world moments, finding creative ways for the gallery programme to be part of the major online conversations around contemporary art regionally and globally.


Channel Management



Manage daily posting, scheduling and optimisation of social content, with support from Junior Communications Officer. Tailor assets for each platform, ensuring best practices for format, timing, and tone of voice.


Community Engagement



Oversee engagement and relationships with artists, influencers, and peer institutions across channels, fostering a responsive and engaging online community, with support from Junior Communications Officer. Manage comments, direct messages, and audience interactions in a timely and brand-consistent manner.


Analytics & Reporting



Track, analyse and report on organic social media performance across all platforms. Produce clear, periodic reports tailored to different stakeholders (senior leadership, artist liaison teams, curatorial, and digital), highlighting progress against objectives. Provide actionable insights to inform content production, campaign planning and audience growth strategies. Benchmark the gallery's performance against peer institutions, cultural organisations and wider competitors, identifying opportunities for differentiation. * Monitor industry best practices and adapt reporting to capture new KPIs relevant to emerging platforms and trends.
