Black Trail Runners (BTR) is a community and campaigning charity that exists to increase the
inclusion, participation and representation
of Black people and People of Colour in trail running.
Established in 2020, we have gone from a grassroots idea to a powerful movement that is shaking up the sport of trail running.
Our work ranges from holding trail taster days for beginners to leading national conversations with governing bodies and event organisers to make the outdoors more inclusive. We do this powered by passion, lived experience and community leadership.
Social Media Manager
Role Context
BTR is led by a Board of Trustees. As our community has grown, so has the work required to communicate our mission, protect our voice and build our movement. We are seeking a Social Media Manager to support our trustees by:
? Increasing our online presence through storytelling
? Supporting our campaigns and events through strategic and creative content ? Engaging our growing community with authentic storytelling
? Amplifying our mission across the running and outdoor industry and beyond
You will bring energy, enthusiasm, creativity and strong organisational skills. You must work independently, take initiative and deliver results with minimal supervision.
Role Responsibilities
? Plan, create and schedule content across all BTR social channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn; Heylo, TikTok desirable)
? Create engaging reels, video edits, photography posts and graphics using mobile-friendly editing tools (Canva, CapCut or similar)
? Develop and deliver social media strategies and campaigns linked to BTR projects, events, education and partnerships
? Write captions in a tone consistent with BTRvalues and voice
? Promote BTR events, programs, and community opportunities to drive participation from underrepresented groups
? Track and measure campaign impact using insights and analytics, and provide simple monthly reports
? Respond to messages and comments to nurture safe community engagement
? Maintain confidentiality and ensure all storytelling respects lived experience social media officer
Experience
? Proven experience crafting and delivering social media strategies ? Experience running social media campaigns from concept to delivery ? Knowledge of best practice for major social platforms
? Marketing experience desirable
Skills & Aptitude
? Social media savvy and up to date with trends and formats
? Excellent writing and storytelling skills
? Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask
? Able to analyse and measure campaign impact
? IT literate with an understanding of the latest content creation and analytics technologies.
? Creative, self-motivated and able to work alone without supervision ? Able to maintain confidentiality, discretion and data respect
? Responsive to changing needs and priorities

Hours, Pay & Working Pattern
? Freelance self-employed role paid on invoice (you are not an employee) ? 8 hours weekly at 20 per hour
? Flexible working pattern, some weekend and evening posting will be required. ? One online check-in call per month
