Social Work Assistant position in Youth Intervention Service


Social Work Assistants in this team will support young people who are in conflict with the law between the ages of 13-26, who require comprehensive assessment and tailored interventions.


The role will include a mixture of support for children and young adults who are care experienced who require support to reduce risks relating to offending behaviour.


The responsibilities of the Social Work Assistant include:


Small caseload to be case-managed as allocated caseworker


Allocated or ad-hoc assistance to young people who are allocated to Social Workers or Senior Practitioners


Supporting children and young people in Court appearing from custody as and when required


Facilitating group-work activities and interventions


Outreach support to young people at risk of becoming in conflict with the law


The Role



Th Social work assistants will work creatively to support young people, adopting a range of approaches, including direct one to one work and group work. You will be involved in the assessment and management of risk and need, supporting young people to engage with a range of supports available in their communities and empowering young people to become active and responsible citizens.


You will contribute to work which will support the implementation of the Promise in Fife.


You will be responsible for supporting planning for young people and work collaboratively with a range of multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes for young people and families.


This position will include lone working and require an ability to travel throughout Fife.


Later evening and weekend working may be occasionally required.


The Person



Experience of working with young people in conflict with the law and / or young people leaving care. Knowledge and experience of both child and adult protection processes. Knowledge of, and skills in, using IT and basic audio-visual technology and/or be enthusiastic about developing these. Organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise workload, experience of making effective decisions. Ability to evidence continuous professional development Ability to be innovative and be creative. Team working skills (work together) Ability to travel throughout Fife.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
