We are currently looking for front-end Software Engineers to join our team and help us deliver quality software solutions that are fit for use and purpose. This role is hybrid based at our Manchester city centre office.

What will you be doing in this role?

As a front-end Software Engineer at Tunstall, you will create and review software code, to design, develop, and modify software solutions and components based on business and customer requirements using an agile mindset.

The Ideal candidate:

You will have a commitment to driving production of quality software by adhering to proven practices and methodologies (TDD and Unit Testing). A real focus on building great products that our customers will love is vital to the success of this role.

You will have proven experience of working with some of the following technologies NextJS, ReactJS, NodeJS, Jest, Typescript, experience of Agile methodologies and frameworks, and have good working knowledge of cloud microservices ideally using MS technologies.

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Actively participate in the design, development, and testing of systems and components,
  • Write efficient, maintainable, and scalable code and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices,
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery,
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and proper implementation of software design principles,
  • Provide feedback and suggestions for improvement to team members,
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide technical insights, estimate effort, ensure alignment between development and overall project goals, and plan the development tasks,
  • Work closely with UX designers and product team to deliver a consistent front-end experience,
  • Foster effective collaboration and communication within the team and with other cross-functional teams,
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture,
  • Continuously look to identify opportunities for process improvement, tooling enhancements, and technology updates,
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, frameworks, and best practices and advocate for their adoption when appropriate,
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical coaching to the backend development team members, to help team improve their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall professional growth.
Key skills and experience:
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Proven experience of working with some of the following technologies NextJS, ReactJS, NodeJS, Jest, Typescript,
  • Experience of building out storybooks and UI component libraries,
  • A commitment to driving production of quality software by adhering to proven practices and methodologies (TDD and Unit Testing),
  • Experience of Agile Methodologies and frameworks like Scrum / Kanban / SAFe,
  • Good working knowledge of cloud Microservices ideally using MS technologies / Azure / Serverless Environment / Docker Containers / Kubernetes,
  • Experience of automated CI/CD pipelines, Git and unit test frameworks,
  • Passionate about building a great consumer product that our customers will love,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,
  • Ability to help build/grow high performing teams and drive software engineering best practices.
