Residential Support Worker
to join our dedicated team in Reading, working in a solo residential setting. This is a rare opportunity to provide

About the Role
This is a hands-on, emotionally rewarding role where your focus will be to create a nurturing, stable, and structured home environment for a young person in care. Working within a small and skilled team, you'll play a central role in supporting emotional growth, promoting wellbeing, and building trust.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to the individual needs of the young person
Support emotional regulation, mental health, and therapeutic goals
Respond calmly and effectively to complex behaviours, using de-escalation and intervention strategies when required
Assist with personal care, daily routines, and the development of essential life skills
Contribute to care planning and key working sessions
Maintain structure, consistency, and a safe environment at all times
Work closely with colleagues and professionals to ensure joined-up care and progress
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone with professional experience and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for young people. You understand the importance of consistency, trust, and therapeutic care in creating a positive foundation for healing and development.
You'll bring:
Experience in residential childcare, therapeutic support, or mental health settings
Confidence in managing complex or high-risk behaviours
A calm, empathetic, and emotionally resilient approach to care
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
A child-focused mindset and genuine passion for making a difference
Willingness to engage in ongoing training, development, and reflective practice
