Fettler Sponger

A Fettler is responsible for the careful manual finishing of ceramic ware--removing seams, smoothing surfaces, and ensuring each piece is flawless before it moves on in production. Key Duties and Responsibilities

:

Manual Handling & Finishing

Remove seam lines and imperfections from casted or pressure cast ware using a sharp blade or sponge

.

Sponge and wipe the base (known as the foot) of each item to ensure a clean, even finish.

Quality Control

Inspect each piece for defects, cracks or inconsistencies.

Ensure all ware meets visual and tactile quality before passing on

Tool Handling and Maintenance

Use hand tools such as sponges, diddlers and knives with care and precision

Clean and maintain fettling tools to ensure consistent performance.

Health Safety and Hygiene

Follow all safety procedures including the use of PPE where required.

Maintain a clean and tidy workstation to prevent contamination and accidents.

Production Support

Work efficiently to meet daily production targets

Communicate any issues with ware or tools to supervisors promptly

In Addition

Express a keen attitude and willingness to learn.

Work closely with the department team leader to continually improve techniques across the board to achieve the quality of product required by Emma Bridgewater.

Communicate effectively with your line manager and trainer to ensure training process is being achieved and adjusted as required.

Pay

: 12.24 per hour

Hours of Work

: 39 hours per week - working 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Mon-Thurs and 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM Friday.
