The Position
The Sports & Leisure Lead will play a key role in supporting the planning, delivery, and management of Personal Best Education's youth projects. This role will involve leading the development and execution of sports, leisure, and wellbeing initiatives, ensuring they align with the organisation's objectives and drive positive outcomes for young people and communities.
Primary Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver PE & Sports Coaching, Wraparound Care, Leisure shifts, Holiday Camps, and Residential Experiences.
Prepare and deliver birthday parties, events, and leisure activities.
Adapt to a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and school holidays, to support programme delivery and business needs.
Support the development and delivery of health, wellbeing, and community-focused projects.
Provide supervision, mentorship, and guidance to young people, acting as a role model and source of motivation.
Plan and deliver engaging sessions that enhance participants' skills and personal development.
Follow safeguarding procedures meticulously, addressing concerns in line with Personal Best Education policies.
Complete key project coordination tasks, ensuring successful delivery of youth initiatives (e.g., school provisions, holiday camps, residential and leisure activities).
Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and colleagues.
Collaborate with the Customer Service & Admin teams to ensure high levels of participant satisfaction and retention.
Ensure all resources, systems, and tools for project delivery are fit-for-purpose and appropriate (e.g., MIS, resources, vehicles, communication tools).
Ensure accurate data collection and management, including incident reports, feedback, and key performance metrics.
Support other aspects of the business, including additional projects, as requested by the line manager or MD.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade A-C (4-9), including Maths & English (Essential).
Educated to degree level or a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role (Essential).
Right to work in the UK (Essential).
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Experience within youth work with a strong understanding of best practices and Experience in PE, sports coaching, or youth activity coordination
Ability to plan and execute sports, leisure, and community-focused activities, including birthday parties and events
Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and motivate young people
Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
Ability to organise and oversee projects, ensuring successful execution and performance tracking
Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with internal teams, external partners, and participants
Experience working with customers to ensure satisfaction and engagement in ongoing programmes
Ability to manage and maintain resources required for programme delivery
Proficiency in recording incidents, gathering feedback, and tracking key performance metrics
Competence in using digital tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and relevant management systems
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and adapt to varied responsibilities as needed
Valid UK driving license with the ability to use company vehicles
Desirable:
Certifications in sports coaching, PE teaching, or youth work
Previous experience in holiday activity camps, residential youth projects, or wraparound care
Mental Health First Aid or similar qualifications
Background in delivering health, wellbeing, or social impact initiatives
Familiarity with frameworks such as National Citizen Service (NCS) or Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programmes
Valid First Aid training
Understanding of health & safety regulations and risk management
