Sports Mentor
Job Description
At WSE Academy we provide alternative education provision for KS4 learners, who through social, emotional or behavioural difficulties are unable to access or are unsuited to mainstream education.
As a Sports Mentor you will be working alongside the Tutor working with small groups, supporting both classroom and practical sports sessions within our onsite facilities; guiding learners in working towards a Level 1 Vocational Sports Qualification. In addition, you will be supporting learners to improve their attendance, punctuality and other core skills with an emphasis on social skills.
As Sports Mentor you will be working with small groups delivering both classroom and practical sessions at our onsite facilities.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
To support the delivery of daily activities to promote and enhance learner knowledge. Implement positive behavioural strategies. Deliver practical sessions (including sports and gym based sessions) Support learners to realise their academic potential. Supporting pupils within a mentoring capacity both in and out of the classroom environment You'll take an active role in prompting and guiding discussions.
Qualification/Experience
Teaching qualification (equivalent to PTTLS certification) or relevant experience Sports Coaching Experience Gym Instructor Qualification (desirable not essential) Experience working with challenging behaviour. Two years' experience working with young people within a sport, education, or youth work setting.
Candidates will be subject to a DBS enhanced check
Working hours are Monday to Wednesday, 9.30-2.30pm
