Brief Description
We are looking to recruit a number of permanent Station Control Assistant positions. This will involve comprehensive monitoring and control of the station systems, plus the delivery of accurate information to all interested parties as appropriate.
These positions are entry level and a great opportunity to experience life at Network Rail High Speed - also once you've mastered being a Station Control Assistant and feel like it's time to move on - there are opportunities to progress your career, with internal vacancies being posted on a daily basis.

About the role (External)
The key responsibilities of a Station Control Assistant are to:
Provide regular updates on train and station services to all station users using the information systems available
Update station staff and the train operating companies on potential service disruption
Provide public safety and security information to all station users on a regular basis
Operate and maintain station systems and equipment - including the fire panels, CCTV, car park equipment and customer help points
Report equipment faults to the appropriate system owner/maintainer in a timely manner, maintaining a record of each fault occurrence
Liaise with signalling centres and train operating companies regarding train services, maintaining a log of occurrences
Assist the station team and perform other duties in light of operational requirements
Fulfil allocated duties as prescribed within the Emergency Plans
We are looking for candidates with:
Good command of the English language (both written and oral), with a clear and concise speaking voice
Experience of working in a customer facing environment
Experience of working effectively as part of a team
Experience of processing and prioritising complex information in a time-pressured environment
Although not essential, it would be an extra plus if you had:
The ability to demonstrate a proactive concern for accuracy and clarity
An understanding of train operating company services and UK railway geography
The role will be based at St Pancras International Station. However, occasional travel to our other offices and site locations along the route and across the network may be expected.
