We have an exciting role on offer within our Highways Infrastructure and Fleet services as a Streetworks Inspector.

About Us




An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Streetworks Inspector to join our Permit Delivery Team, to support the Permit Delivery Manager in the provision of the management of utility inspection activities and other highway functions for the effective and efficient delivery of service.


To be successful in this role you need to hold a current full UK driving licence and proof of business insurance, be educated to GCSE Level 4 or grade C in English and Maths, hold a New Roads and Streetworks Act Accreditation to Supervisor Level.


You will have a responsibility for undertaking site inspections and identify highway reinstatement defects and inadequacies in signing, lighting and guarding.


Carry out inspections in accordance with:

The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

Traffic Management Act 2004.

Middlesbrough Council's Road and Street Works Permit Scheme.

Code of Practice for Inspections.

Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in the Highway outline key.


Be able to work independently and to take reasonable care of your own health and safety and to co-operate with management to enable compliance with the Authority's Health and Safety requirements.


As part of the role, you will be required to attend meetings prior to commencement of road and street works and assist in the establishment of appropriate traffic management, road safety requirements and construction methods.
