We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to assist individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism in leading fulfilling, independent lives. You will support individuals with daily activities, personal care, social engagement, and skill development, promoting dignity, choice, and respect in everything you do.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide person-centred support tailored to individual needs, preferences, and goals.
Assist with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and budgeting.
Support with personal care and hygiene where required, maintaining privacy and dignity.
Encourage social interaction, community engagement, and participation in recreational activities.
Promote independence, confidence, and communication skills.
Monitor wellbeing and report any concerns to senior staff or healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning and reviews.
Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality policies and procedures.
Administer or assist with medication (following training and policies).
Build trusting relationships with individuals, families, and professionals.
Requirements:
Essential:
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working with service users with learning disabilities and autism
Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins if required.
Commitment to promoting independence and inclusion.
Desirable:
Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Makaton, or other communication methods.
Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
