Support Worker - Mental Health

ACL Homes Plus Ltd is a small, well established and respected local company based in Folkestone, Kent with 2 residential homes for adults with a mental health diagnosis - one for 18 adults and one for 9 adults.

Key responsibilities will be:

To encourage and support residents to maintain and improve their daily living skills and promote their independence skills including support to participate in social, recreational and community activities. ie Dr appointments, CPA reviews, swimming, cinema, shopping, etc
To administer, record and monitor medication as appropriate
To record daily activities and reports on the in-house computer system
To participate in the monitoring of physical and mental health of residents and to behave and report appropriately
*To comply with Adult Protection & Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and take responsibility for reporting any concerns to the Management Team

To assist and contribute with care planning, risk assessments, house meetings, staff meetings and training
To carry out some domestic duties including cleaning and food preparation. (Please note that night shifts are an AWAKE shift. Duties for night shift consist of medication administration, interaction with residents as required, cleaning the home and some personal care)
Our Support Workers are generally qualified to a minimum Level 2 Diploma (NVQ2) in Health & Social Care/Adult Care. This is not a necessity but it will be a requirement to undertake your Level 2 and/or Level 3 Diploma if you do not already have it.

These roles are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Adult Barred List check.

We operate a shift rota which is produced every four weeks. Examples of shifts you would be expected to work are 8am-8pm, 8am-6pm, 8pm-8am, 9am-6pm, 10am-6pm. Working additional hours in excess of your weekly contractual hours will also be a requirement according to the needs of the business.

You should also be aware that as we have a duty to ensure minimum staffing levels within the homes there will be a requirement to cover shifts at minimal notice at times or to stay on past your expected shift finish time if required.

There is an enhanced rate of pay for emergency shift cover.
