The Supported Living Support Worker plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and assistance to individuals in supported living environments. This position involves working closely with clients to promote their independence, enhance their quality of life, and support them in daily activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of care practices, including those related to dementia care and hospice care, while demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
Duties
Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
Provide medication administration as per prescribed guidelines.
Support clients with mobility and heavy lifting when necessary.
Implement behaviour management strategies to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
Maintain accurate records of client progress and any changes in behaviour or health status.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualised care plans.
Ensure the living environment is clean, safe, and conducive to the well-being of all residents.
Requirements
Previous experience in care settings such as nursing homes or home care is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dementia care principles and hospice care practices is an advantage.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
Capability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with physical mobility challenges.
A compassionate approach towards individuals requiring support, demonstrating patience and empathy.
Relevant qualifications or training in health and social care are beneficial but not essential.
A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the dignity of all clients.
