Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring that all food safety standards are met, and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Duties

Prepare and create a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls. Ensure the freshness and quality of all ingredients used in meal preparation. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to food safety regulations. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Assist in menu development by contributing innovative ideas for new sushi offerings. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management. Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests when necessary and accommodating special requests.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant setting. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods specific to sushi. Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in the kitchen. Previous experience in meal preparation and serving within a fast-paced environment is preferred. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Culinary qualifications or relevant certifications are an advantage but not essential.
