Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and food safety.

Duties



Prepare sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes with precision and attention to detail. Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including workstations and equipment. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and timely service. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to management. Stay updated on current trends in sushi preparation and presentation techniques. Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests when necessary and accommodating special requests.

Requirements



minimum 3 years of proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional

Japanese

kitchen. Strong knife skills with a focus on sushi-making techniques and Japanese cuisine. Knowledge of food safety practices to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are maintained. Ability to maintain and follow recipes, processes and standards Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required by the restaurant's schedule. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues. Experience in a Sashimi & Nigiri role is a plus.

Experience in Japanese hot food is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 33,000.00-35,000.00 per year
