Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers while adhering to food safety standards and maintaining a clean kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls. Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist in ordering supplies as needed. Stay updated on current trends in sushi preparation and presentation to continually enhance menu offerings. Provide exceptional service by engaging with customers when necessary, sharing knowledge about the dishes served.

Experience

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen setting. Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role is highly desirable. Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on Japanese cuisine and sushi-making techniques. Familiarity with food safety standards and best practices in kitchen hygiene. Restaurant experience is preferred, along with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
