We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our vibrant kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts, particularly in Japanese cuisine, and a keen understanding of food safety and preparation techniques. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that delight our customers while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen.
Responsibilities
Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to traditional recipes and presentation standards.
Ensure all food preparation is conducted in compliance with food safety regulations.
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas for new sushi offerings.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service periods.
Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for restocking.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and best practices.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and culinary techniques.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation.
A passion for Japanese cuisine and willingness to learn new skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
Culinary qualifications or certifications are advantageous but not essential.
