We are seeking a professional and courteous Switchboard Operator to manage incoming calls and direct them efficiently within our organisation. This role is vital in ensuring seamless communication, providing excellent customer service, and supporting the overall operational flow. The successful candidate will possess strong organisational skills, a friendly demeanour, and the ability to handle multiple tasks with professionalism.
Responsibilities
Answer incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously, directing callers to the appropriate departments or personnel.
Manage multiple phone lines simultaneously, ensuring all calls are answered in a timely manner.
Take accurate messages when necessary and relay information efficiently to relevant staff members.
Maintain an organised switchboard system to facilitate quick call routing.
Assist visitors by providing information or guiding them to the correct department or individual.
Ensure the reception area remains professional and welcoming at all times.
Handle general enquiries via phone or in person with tact and professionalism.
Keep records of call logs and messages for future reference.
Requirements
Proven experience as a switchboard operator, receptionist, or in a similar customer service role is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly and professional manner.
Strong organisational abilities with attention to detail.
Ability to multitask effectively under pressure while maintaining composure.
Proficiency in using telephone systems and basic office software.
A neat appearance and courteous demeanour are essential.
