Systems Engineering Manager Here at Envisics, we are an internationally-based innovator in the automotive industry specialising in the development and supply of holographic technologies to Tier 1s and OEMs, with our primary focus currently on augmented reality (\xe2\x80\x9cAR\xe2\x80\x9d) Head-up displays. Envisics\xe2\x80\x99 holographic platform, which leverages a combination of complex materials science and proprietary algorithms (above 700 patents issued or pending), enables unparalleled performance as it relates to optimising both OEM delivery requirements and the end-user experience. We have already assembled some of the world\xe2\x80\x99s top scientists & engineers from worldwide renowned companies and, due to the success and growth of our product development activities, Envisics is now looking to invest in the talent of an experienced Systems Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead the Systems Engineering team within a cross functional Engineering Matrix. The Systems Engineering team has a responsibility of defining and developing the core technologies of our automotive-qualified AR-HUD products. You will be responsible for driving the concepts, design and modelling of the system architecture to meet the customer requirements. You will also be responsible for ensuring other engineering disciplines have a common understanding as the teams deliver the product. This role will interact internally with Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Manufacturing teams, as well as Program management, to ensure the delivery of industry-leading products.
Duties and responsibilities

Team Leadership

Manage a high-performance Systems Engineering team responsible for driving the overall system specification, simulation, implementation, and verification of our augmented-reality head-up-display products.
Manage the team\xe2\x80\x99s objectives, development, assets and resourcing. Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, encouraging open communication and idea sharing.
Work with other engineering disciplines (Software, Hardware, Optical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Program Management) to develop and validate the system features.
Collaborate with Executive leadership, Functional Leads, Industrialisation partners, and other stakeholders to ensure technology development meets systems requirements.
Systems Engineering
Take responsibility of the over-arching product systems requirements documentation and process. This includes the requirements of all sub-systems and components and spans all engineering functions.
Define concepts, flowcharts algorithms and processes with clear documentation to define complex system features to fulfil the product requirements. Develop and validate these features.
Support development and validation test plans around an automotive sample development plan and assist in root cause analysis and troubleshooting investigations.
Product Development

Provide system engineering design support through the entire product lifecycle, from proof-of-concept designs to production launch.
Support System DFMEA and other product development processes within an APQP and QMS framework.
Qualifications and Requirements:
To be considered for this role, we seek the following skills and experience:

  • 1st / 2:1 degree in Physics, Engineering or similar with significant level of Systems Engineering. Additional courses/experience considered in lieu of direct Systems Design qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of developing systems engineering designs in a commercial environment, from concept through to realisation and design verification.
  • Strong leadership skills, focus and drive, with the ability to inspire and motivate engineers working in cross-functional teams. Performance management
  • Experience working with R&D teams for product development using new components and technologies without direct precedent.
  • Strong product development and industrialisation experience of new optical and electronic systems and products.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder management (especially with suppliers)
  • Experienced with delivering systems that operate in harsh environments is desirable.
  • Strong optical engineering skills and knowledge of display technologies.
  • MATLAB experience is essential, and programming (C, C++) would be very beneficial.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced start-up environment where novel ideas, designs, and methods are constantly being developed and tested.
