Talent Acquisition Specialist

Birmingham, United Kingdom

Job Description

This is a specialist Talent Acquisition role for someone who operates as a true recruitment expert and trusted partner, not a transactional recruiter.
As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, you will provide professional, evidence-based advice to hiring managers and People Partners across GSA. You will influence how roles are shaped, how talent is attracted and how hiring decisions are made ensuring recruitment activity strengthens the organisation, not just fills vacancies.
You will own end-to-end recruitment delivery within your portfolio, while also setting standards, applying best practice and building confidence in the recruitment process. Your role is to bring insight, challenge and structure to hiring balancing pace with quality and immediate needs with longer-term workforce sustainability.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the subject-matter expert for Talent Acquisition within your portfolio
  • Partnering with managers early to influence role clarity, attraction strategy and realistic hiring plans
  • Providing market insight and challenge on availability, sourcing routes, salary positioning and timelines
  • Designing and leading direct sourcing approaches, reducing reliance on agencies
  • Advising on fair, inclusive and effective assessment and selection methods
  • Owning the candidate experience and ensuring a consistent, professional approach
  • Using recruitment data and insight to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Embedding effective use of the ATS and agreed recruitment processes
  • Supporting employer branding and longer-term talent pipeline activity
About you
You are an experienced Talent Acquisition professional who brings credibility, confidence and depth of expertise.
You are comfortable operating as an advisor and challenger, not an order-taker. You understand the labour market, know how to source talent proactively and can explain why a particular approach will (or won`t) work. You build strong relationships through trust, clarity and consistency.
You will bring:
  • Proven experience in a specialist Talent Acquisition or senior recruitment role
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at manager and director level
  • Deep understanding of sourcing strategies and recruitment best practice
  • Confidence using data, insight and ATS systems to inform decisions
  • A commitment to fair, inclusive and high-quality recruitment
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset in complex or fast-moving environments.
Experience in housing, public sector or values-led organizations is desirable but not essential.
