Job Description


We have an exciting opportunity to work as a Technical Specialist to deliver an innovative project as part of the Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI) Programme. The CDI is a \xc2\xa34M project that is funded by Innovate UK to create an Innovation Accelerator, CDI will focus on Industrial Digitalisation (including Additive Manufacturing), Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Immersive Technologies. CDI will support businesses with technology adoption and new product development. You will be a member of Technical services based in PrintCity our sector leading innovative hub for additive and digital manufacturing ( ) where you will be working on the Industrial Digitalisation and Additive Manufacturing theme within CDI.

About the role:

You\'ll be:

  • Working alongside our Product Development Specialist in PrintCity in the delivery of the CDI programme
  • Carrying out projects, supporting external companies enrolled on the programme on technology adoption
  • Developing solutions for machine connectivity and data extraction
  • Applying knowledge and skills to support the work of students and academics and external stakeholders
About You

You\'ll have the following:
  • A degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or Data Science or a closely related subject and/or equivalent relevant work experience
  • The ability to operate a range of lab/workshop equipment safely and to an exceptionally high standard, including skill in the use of CAD (e.g. Fusion 360, Solidworks or an equivalent CAD programme) and a variety of 3D printing technologies and associated software.
  • The ability to connect machines for direct communication, control, and data extraction, with experience of using packages such as NodeRED and Mendix or an equivalent.
  • Extensive knowledge of theory and practice regarding [machine connectivity and cloud computing and additive manufacturing.
You\'ll be comfortable with the following
  • Designing and developing complex technical solutions.
  • Liaising between academics, technical professionals, business professionals, our industrial partners and customers
  • Creating and maintaining excellent internal and external stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Analysing situations, exploring, evaluating and recommending potential solutions.
  • Prioritising and organising your personal workload and to taking leadership responsibility for Additive Manufacturing and to plan and manage your work.
