Job Description

To undertake cleaning duties within the Residential and Outreach properties when needed and to work with tenants to maintain dwelling standards.

- You will work as part of a team delivering group and individual support sessions, working closely with young people to ensure they have genuine input into the design of all areas of their support.

- Effectively and professionally, you will support the daily operation of our Housing Team.

- You will liaise with partner organisations as required.

6 Main Responsibilities

To undertake cleaning and monitoring of the communal areas, individual flats, front and rear entrances of the residential properties.

Ensure high cleanliness standards are maintained in the Residential Property, through routine checks and working one to one with the young people.

To ensure that vulnerable people are protected through knowledge of Adult and Child Safeguarding Procedures.

To provide practical help with independent living skills, undertake individual and group sessions with young people on cleanliness, personal hygiene and cooking.

To maintain effective working relationships with relevant external agencies on behalf of tenants.

To change electric into new tenant's name, top up electric metres for looked after young people.

To write reports on the progress of young people you are working with including updating any timetables daily.

To carry out supervised spends.

To work co-operatively as part of a small team ensuring all objectives are met for the young people in undertaking other responsibilities and tasks requested by the Housing Manager, Finance Manager, Development Manager, Chief Executive or Board.

To attend regular team meetings, undertake training as required, and participate in one to one supervisions.

Support Housing and Supported Housing Manager to ensure that the views, aspirations, concerns and ideas of young people are actively sort and acted upon. Support young people to achieve and thrive by providing opportunities to access education, training and employment.

To cover work in other areas of the business, where required.

To maintain confidentiality within the policies and procedures of the YMCA and external agencies.

To deal with emergencies in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Familiarise yourself with the contractors list and respond to emergency repairs accordingly, making any arrangements needed to allow contractors access.

To deal with Anti-Social Behaviour, following the warning procedure and serving notices.

To maintain void levels and deal with abandonment of tenancies.

To report any repairs and monitor any work in progress checking completed work and updating maintenance records.

To co-ordinate cleaning material orders within agreed budgets.

To co-ordinate cleaning equipment, ensuring serving/maintenance is carried out within agreed budget.

Ensure all cleaning materials and equipment are stored safely.

To signpost and encourage engagement to relevant care/support and welfare services.

To ensure that visitors sign in and help residents maintain the security of the building.

Carry out all mandatory and necessary training including SharePoint, Health & Safety and any other course requested within the 6 months probationary period and subsequent refresher training.

You will be required to undertake additional duties commensurate with the level of this post.

Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm

Temporary position to 6th Feb 2026 , however, could be possibly extended.

Pay: 12.85 per hour
