We are seeking a highly skilled Therapeutic Lead to join our team and contribute to the success of the organisation. 5ab Care is a Children's Residential Care provider supporting vulnerable young people across the country. We are recruiting for an experienced and driven individual who has the capability of supporting our children through therapy and counselling on a one-to-one basis. 5ab Care is offering the opportunity to be a part of a morals-based, ethical organisation that is organically growing.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide short/long-term counselling for our children
Attend and fully engage with team meetings and 121s
Reflective work through group consultations for our staff teams
Provide a specialised counselling service to children and young people
Utilise aspects of therapeutic approaches, including play therapy, to adapt to the needs of the children
Provide trauma-focused counselling
Act where necessary to safeguard children and follow P&P
Work within the ethical guidance of their registered body
Maintain records and counselling notes in line with statutory requirements and best practice
Commit to and work from a trauma-informed perspective, adhering to anti-discriminatory practice
Attend and fully engage with clinical and case supervision
Attend any mandatory training events and maintain a training portfolio of continuous professional development and research
Log all training and continued professional development
Keep updated on developments in services for children and young people within the community and national policy
Counselling qualifications
An understanding of attachment difficulties, complex developmental trauma/ childhood trauma/ ACES (adverse childhood experiences) and the impact of disrupted family relationships
Knowledge of the care system and the legal framework that supports looked after children
Understanding the diverse needs of children and young people with considerations for working with identity , race, faith, socio-economic class, culture, gender and sexuality..
Understanding and working with neurodiversity in children and young people.
Staff consultations and training
Offering an opportunity for staff teams to discuss, reflect and understand the needs of the children they care for.
To promote therapeutic ways of caring, including the use of PACE /DDP.
Offering a non-judgmental environment for staff to develop, learn and share best practice.
To promote practice based learning and professional curiosity.
Person Specification:
Proven experience in successfully providing therapeutic input for children.
Fully qualified in Children and Young People with a minimum of level 4 counselling or psychotherapy. Desirable knowledge in psychodynamic, systemic and DDP principles
Registered with PSA-approved body (UKCP, NCPS, BACP) or psychotherapy.
Minimum 3 Years of experience post qualifying working with children.
Strong knowledge of children, trauma & therapy
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Enhanced DBS check, which is maintained and up to date
