This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and suitably skilled individual to join the Trading Standards team in a permanent role as a qualified Trading Standards Officer. We are looking to recruit someone with a flair for finding non-compliance and a determination to resolve issues. The post holder will undertake work aimed primarily at investigating complaints, conducting requests for advice from local businesses and the inspection of businesses involved in the sale of food. Occasional weights and measures related work may also be required. The nature of the post will require a flexible approach to work, including occasional out-of- hours work. Other essential qualities will include strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deal firmly but fairly with people, and the ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Essential qualification for this role is a Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma (or its antecedents).
Existing statutory qualification for enforcement of food standards is advantageous but not critical, provided there is a demonstrated commitment to obtain it once appointed.
A full driving licence, valid in the UK is required.
