Job Overview


This hands-on role is designed to develop your skills and confidence in delivering planned maintenance and improvement works across our housing stock and communities. From estate improvement projects and assisted living scheme refurbishments to retrofit and tarmacking works, you'll gain exposure to a wide variety of projects that help ensure our homes meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.

Working within our supportive Assets Delivery team, you'll learn how to apply technical knowledge and build practical skills alongside your academic studies to support the delivery of our annual planned maintenance and/or improvement programme. You'll gradually take on more responsibility for the day-to-day management of projects, building independence over time.

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you'll be trained in efficient contract and project management, working closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, contractors, and residents to deliver high-quality outcomes and a great customer experience. You'll spend significant time on-site--particularly during the contract phase--averaging up to three days per week, with additional time in college and the office to support your development. Strong communication skills and a people-focused approach are essential, as you'll be building lasting relationships with contractors and colleagues alike.

Key Objectives



Learn how to prepare comprehensive project briefs, specifications and contract documents for a variety of planned maintenance and/ or improvement works, including preparing detailed schedule of works, cost estimates, and identification of any survey and/or planning requirements Learn how to apply formal tendering and procurement procedures, and analyse tender submissions - including cost evaluation and compliance with specification and requirements - to support recommendations for contract awards Learn how to successfully manage contracts for a variety of planned maintenance and/or improvement works by monitoring performance through site visits, KPIs, and liaising with contractors, residents and other professionals to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the required quality and health and safety standards, and CDM regulations. Support the approval and certification of completed works, assisting in the processing of valuations and issuing payment certificates. Support residents by providing clear communication and signposting to additional services and support where needed. Support the Strategic Asset Management team in maintaining consistent standards for asset data to meet both regulatory and business requirements. Work in line with statutory obligations, Health and Safety legislation and internal policies and procedures, always promoting safe working practices. Take an active role in your own learning and development, recognising that the duties and responsibilities of this role may evolve in line with business needs and your progression through training. Specific Responsibilities Provide support to the Assets Delivery team in the day-to-day delivery of planned maintenance and/or improvement projects, assisting with contract and project management tasks. Actively participate in learning opportunities to develop a strong understanding of the Strategic Asset Management function. Work towards achieving a HNC/HND qualification in Construction and the Built Environment, applying your learning to real-world projects and tasks.

Essential Qualifications:



UCAS Tariff Points: Applicants must have a minimum of 48 UCAS points. This can be achieved through any of the following:

A Levels: Minimum grades DD Welsh Baccalaureate: Grade D in the Core plus DD at A Level BTEC: Extended Diploma PPP (Pass, Pass, Pass) or Diploma PP (Pass, Pass) Access to Higher Education Diploma: Pass with at least 48 UCAS points GCSE requirements: A minimum of three GCSEs at grade C / Grade 4 or above. Must include English Language and Mathematics

With technical training you will be able to interpret technical drawings, carry out measurements, and contribute to cost estimates and project budgets. Driving requirements: Holds a full, clean UK driving licence and has permanent access to a vehicle.
