Job Title: Trainee Chef
Location: Duo (Gather Kitchen), Clapham
Employment Type: Full-time (5 days a week, 8 hours a day)
Hours: Wednesday to Friday 6 hours/day; Weekend shifts may require working up until 1.30/2am

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Trainee Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. As a Trainee Chef, you will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop your culinary skills in a supportive and fast-paced environment. You will be involved in preparing a range of dishes, including crafting artisanal pizzas (including making pizza dough), contributing to menu development, and ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation. This role offers a pathway for growth and the chance to become a vital part of our company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation for a range of menu items, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Make and work with pizza dough for our artisanal pizzas, ensuring perfect texture and flavour.
- Support the kitchen team in preparing and cooking dishes to high standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen areas, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Learn and follow recipes, portion control, and presentation guidelines.
- Contribute ideas for menu development and specials under guidance.
- Assist in managing stock and supplies efficiently.
- Participate in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through food quality.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends up until 2am.
- Engage in ongoing learning and professional development in culinary arts.
Requirements:
- Passion for cooking and willingness to learn and grow in a culinary environment.
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food safety preferable.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Comfortable working flexible hours including weekends with late shifts (up to 1am).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Able to make pizza dough and artisanal pizza crafting.
- Physical capability to handle kitchen demands (standing, lifting, moving).
