Challenge Consulting has an enviable reputation for design and delivery of training programmes with a host of household names on its client list. We are a small and friendly team with high levels of repeat business and long standing relationships with clients. The majority of our training is tailored to delegate needs and is delivered in groups in-company on days and times to suit the client business. The core of our work is in the East Midlands area, however our work also takes us to various locations throughout the UK.

The role will include design and delivery of training programmes for a variety of individuals from administration grades up to senior management level in topics such as leadership, management, coaching skills, influencing and persuasion etc. The ideal applicant will be conversant with training within in a variety of settings/industries. We also deliver a wide range of accredited training leading to ILM and therefore experience of delivering and/or assessing qualification based programmes would be an advantage.

Most of our training is delivered in person, however this is supported also through tutorials and online Zoom/MS Teams sessions.

Regular travel will be required, mainly within the East Midlands, however travel to other locations in the UK will be required from time to time which will involve on average two overnight stays for which expenses and a travel bonus will be paid.

Applicants must have a minimum of a degree (or equiv.) in a business related topic, be able to demonstrate up to date occupational competence in training delivery, have operational management experience + excellent presentation skills both in person and online.

Management/Leadership Training Consultant

Reporting to:

Managing Director

Contract Type:

Full Time or 2 x Part-Time Permanent (subject to probationary period), or may be suitable for self employed Associate trainers with whom a daily rate would be agreed.

Hours of work:

This negotiable for the right person but will be for full days to enable delivery of training. Core training days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9 and 5pm so at least two of these days would be required for a part time role. Some flexibility will be required to cater for individual projects.

Travel for training delivery at client organisations within the UK will be required (mainly but not exclusively within the East Midlands Area) and occasional overnight stays will be required for which expenses and a travel bonus will be paid.

Salary/Pension:

Up to 38K package including travel bonus for overnight/significant day travel and employer pension contribution

Holiday :

5.6 weeks holiday including statutory bank holidays (pro rata for part time) plus Christmas to New Year holiday closure. Day off for Birthday.

Duties :



To deliver skills and knowledge based training programmes both in-company (within the UK) and on an open basis (where individuals book onto training courses scheduled on dates prescribed by us) as required. To design and deliver various units of accredited programmes through the ILM or other awarding bodies, and to mark and internally verify assessed work within our three week guarantee up to and including Level 5. To carry out research with client businesses to establish key themes and training needs requirements. To design and plan quality training programmes in keeping with best practice including being alert to inclusivity and equality of opportunity in all aspects of the training. To assist with administration of training and record keeping where required. To deliver training in an interactive and creative manner to appeal to a varied and audience in terms of sector and industry both in-person and online. To evaluate training programmes for effectiveness and quality of delivery To suggest ways to improve training methods and to implement changes to programmes in line with customer requirements. To work within Health & Safety legislation and to be aware of potential risk areas and act accordingly. To demonstrate an understanding of sensitive and confidential information and to handle it responsibly and in line with the Data Protection Act and GDPR. To keep up to date with current thinking and best practice within the spheres of Management and Leadership; coaching and mentoring, and the Law relating to it. To identify potential areas of conflict of interest, or risk factors to programmes and to alert the Managing Director immediately when these occur. Any other related duties necessary to fully execute the role.

Person Specification



Essential



A minimum of a degree (or equivalent) in a Leadership, Management, HR or business related topic Knowledge of up to date Management and Leadership best practice & theoretical models. Ability to work on own initiative and manage own work flows Awareness of, and interest in, current legislation and good practice within employment law and related areas. Excellent presentation skills and ability to explain complicated concepts simply Creative in approach to training to ensure maximisation of retention and audience attention span Able to facilitate groups of between 2 and 12 delegates effectively in room and on-line. Good attention to detail for both narrative and numerical work Flexible attitude to work duties and hours including regular travel and over night stays Confident and able to build rapport quickly with a wide range of individuals from diverse backgrounds in both the public and private sector. Enquiring mind, adept at providing practical examples relevant to the audience Ability to access remote locations for training events and occasionally stay overnight where necessary.

Desirable but not essential



A post graduate qualification to enable delivery and marking up to and including level 7 in Leadership & Management Ability to conduct specialised psychometrics or other assessment tools such as Myers Briggs Type Indicator, TDISC or similar. Other specialist knowledge and ability to design and deliver training programmes within the management and leadership sphere such as Finance, Emotional Intelligence, Diversity and Inclusion Training, Career Planning,...... etc. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including, Word, Powerpoint and Excel. Ability to confidently facilitate online meetings and training programmes using Zoom/MS Teams. Knowledge and practice of executive/workplace coaching/mentoring Level 5 or above (or equivalent) qualification in Coaching and/or Mentoring A recognised teaching / training qualification Recent experience of designing and delivering bespoke training within industry. Own reliable car and full driving license Experience of carrying out training needs analysis Member of Professional Institute such as Chartered Management Inst/CIPD Knowledge or experience of working in the construction sector or related fields
