Transport Manager

to join our team and play a vital role in our continued growth and success.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and proactive

Transport Manager

to lead and manage our transport operations. This role is essential in ensuring that all deliveries are carried out efficiently, legally, and safely. You will be responsible for managing the fleet, supervising drivers, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and optimising logistics performance to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day running of the transport department, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. Plan and schedule driver routes in the most cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Ensure full compliance with all transport legislation, including DVSA and operator licence regulations. Manage a team of drivers, including performance monitoring, support, and training. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to vehicle inspections, MOTs, insurance, and servicing. Monitor and control transport costs, identify savings opportunities, and improve operational efficiency. Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate timely deliveries and resolve any transport issues. Ensure full compliance with health and safety policies and procedures. Prepare regular reports for senior management on performance, compliance, and cost metrics.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3 years' experience in a Transport Manager or similar role within logistics or distribution.

CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification - Essential

In-depth knowledge of transport and fleet management legislation. Proven leadership and team management skills. Strong planning, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport management software. A proactive, organised, and compliance-focused approach.
