Location: Genners Lane, Bartley Green, Birmingham, West Midlands, B32 3NT.

We are currently seeking to appoint a University Secretary, who will join the University at an exciting time as we embark upon a period of ambitious growth and development. The successful applicant will be a member of the University Executive, which comprises the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Chief Financial Officer, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Students), and the University Secretary (who is also Clerk to the University Council).

You will report to the Vice-Chancellor, with a close working relationship and accountability to the Chair of Council in their role as Clerk to Council, and will ensure that the Vice Chancellor, the Chair of Council, and the Council and its committees are advised and supported at a senior level, ensuring that high standards of governance are maintained, and the business is conducted professionally, effectively, and efficiently.

You will also lead on strategic planning and will provide line management for a governance team that includes corporate governance, data governance, and planning and systems development (including management Information), and will have an opportunity to shape the future direction of this team.
