Bishops Castle Vets seeks a Registered Veterinary nurse to join our friendly team, to cover Maternity leave. Fixed term Contract of 12 months on a part-time basis (3 day week).

About us.

Bishops Castle Vets is a mixed independent practice based in the picturesque hills of rural Shropshire, with an established loyal client base. Our friendly team is currently made up of 8 vets, 3 RVNs and 1 SVN, 3 TB testers and a team of support staff. The practice is equipped with IDEXX Lab machines (ProCyte, Catalyst, Sedivue, Urine analyser and snap test reader). We also have digital x-ray, dental x-ray and ultrasound. Our operating theatre is equipped with an anaesthetic monitor which includes capnography.

The practice covers its own out of hours, meaning no end of day patient transfers to another provider.

The Role

Although a mixed practice, the role is 95% small animal based, some assistance may be required with sheep and calves that are bought into the surgery and the occasional visit to help the vets out on farm or doing equine radiographs. Day to day duties will include preparation of theatre and monitoring of anaesthesia, positioning and taking of radiographs, inpatient care, running lab samples, triaging emergencies on arrival, assisting with clinical cleaning, and some reception cover. With the recent addition of more consulting rooms, there will be a requirement for some consulting.

Part Time - Maternity cover RVN required.

12 month term on a 3 day per week basis plus one Saturday morning in every 4.

Joining the OOH rota a bonus (1 in 4)

Salary commensurate with experience

CPD allowance
