Volunteer (Potential for paid position after securing funding)
Remote (with optional monthly in-person meetings in London - travel covered)
About Us:
We are a new Black-led Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to supporting survivors of childhood trauma in the Black British Caribbean community through radical storytelling, podcasting, and community healing. Our flagship platform is a podcast that gives survivors a safe space to speak their truth freely and powerfully.
Our goal is to build a digital and social media presence that informs, uplifts, and activates our community--all while remaining free at the point of access.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, organised, and culturally aware
Volunteer Social Media Manager
to join our founding team. You'll be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of our social media strategy, in collaboration with our external content agency (QuidRobo), the Founder, and the Project Manager.
This is a hands-on, strategic role ideal for someone who wants to build with us from the ground up and eventually transition into a paid role once funding is secured.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the CIC's social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Liaise regularly with QuidRobo (our external content agency) to ensure timely, on-brand content delivery.
Organise, plan, and internally manage our content calendar based on campaign goals, podcast releases, community events, and awareness days.
Collaborate with the Founder and team to shape our brand voice, narrative tone, and visual identity across platforms.
Draft engaging post captions and community engagement responses where needed.
Track platform growth, engagement metrics, and content performance to inform future strategy.
Co-create training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for future team members and volunteers.
Attend internal team meetings (remote, with occasional in-person sessions in London).
Stay informed on trends in digital storytelling, trauma-informed language, and ethical communications.
What We're Looking For:
At least 2-3 years' experience in social media management, digital marketing, or a relevant qualification (degree, college-level course, or equivalent experience).
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
A deep understanding of the Black British and/or Caribbean cultural context.
Comfort with Google Drive, Canva, and scheduling tools like Later or Buffer.
A passion for justice, storytelling, and healing through media.
Ability to self-manage and work independently while collaborating with a wider team.
Experience creating or managing content for podcasting or storytelling platforms is a plus.
Ideal For:
Graduates, creatives, career changers, return-to-work professionals, those new to the UK, retirees, and others looking for meaningful voluntary experience in a growing organisation with a future vision of paid roles and leadership development.
Why Join Us:
You'll be part of building a powerful, culturally grounded healing platform from day one.
You'll have the opportunity to shape digital strategies and team systems that can grow nationally and globally.
When grant funding is secured, this role will transition to a paid position.
You'll work with a passionate, mission-driven team committed to truth, healing, and systemic change.
How to Apply:
Please submit your CV and a short paragraph explaining why this role excites you and how your experience aligns. Feel free to include links to any relevant social media pages, portfolios, or past work.
