The Role
We are seeking a creative and proactive individual to join our Board of Trustees as a Media & Communications Lead. As Paiwand grows, enhancing our public visibility and building an impactful digital presence has become a vital part of our mission.
This role involves helping to build our online profile and shape a strong, consistent communications strategy across platforms. You'll play a key role in raising awareness, engaging supporters, attracting volunteers, and encouraging donations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead Paiwand's digital media and communications strategy.
Grow and manage our presence across social media platforms (currently Twitter and Facebook, with scope for expansion).
Create engaging, consistent content aligned with Paiwand's brand and mission.
Contribute to shaping Paiwand's public voice and tone, raising awareness about refugee and migrant issues.
Collaborate on online fundraising campaigns and donor engagement.
Potentially supervise a social media or communications volunteer.
Advise the board on digital trends and audience engagement strategies.
Attend quarterly board meetings and contribute to wider governance decisions.
Who We are Looking For
Essential:
Experience in social media strategy, content creation, and analytics.
Strong written communication skills with an ability to tailor content to different audiences.
Familiarity with key platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn).
A genuine passion for supporting refugee and migrant communities.
Desirable:
Experience in branding, PR, or charity communications.
Previous work in the non-profit or voluntary sector.
Experience managing volunteers or a content team.
Knowledge of refugee/migrant issues or lived experience is a plus.
Time Commitment
Quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person).
A few ad hoc hours per quarter for content strategy, campaign support, and engagement activities.
One annual away day, plus participation in optional events such as AGMs, funder visits, and charity campaigns.
