The Role

We are seeking a passionate and skilled individual to join our Board of Trustees as the Advocacy Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take a hands-on leadership role and contribute directly to building Paiwand's advocacy strategy.

As a Trustee, you will support Paiwand's mission, ensure strong governance, and promote the rights and wellbeing of vulnerable communities, especially refugees and migrants.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and implementation of Paiwand's Advocacy Strategy. Act as an ambassador for Paiwand's advocacy work, helping raise awareness and influence change. Provide advice and guidance on advocacy and policy issues. Collaborate with the board and staff to support service delivery and outreach. Manage and mentor advocacy volunteers (if applicable). Promote Paiwand's work and contribute to fundraising and partnership efforts. Attend quarterly board meetings and contribute to governance decisions. Participate in annual strategy away days and key charity events (e.g., AGMs, media visits).

Who We are Looking For

Essential:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Passionate about supporting vulnerable and marginalised communities. Interest in advocacy, human rights, or social justice. Willingness to take an active role in governance and strategic development.
Desirable:

Experience in advocacy, advice/information, health, social care, or voluntary sector roles. Knowledge of issues facing refugee or migrant communities. Leadership or project management experience. Interest in digital outreach or online campaigning.
Time Commitment

Quarterly board meetings (online or in-person). A few hours per quarter of flexible ad hoc involvement. Participation in an annual away day and occasional events such as AGMs or stakeholder visits.

Why Join Us?

This role is ideal for someone who has worked in a team and is now ready to take initiative and lead a meaningful project. You will have real influence on the direction of Paiwand's advocacy work, helping shape positive outcomes for refugees and vulnerable communities across Northwest London.
