About the Role

As a

Waking Nights Residential Support Worker - Therapeutic Practitioner

, you'll provide consistent, nurturing care throughout the night for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs. Working within a trauma-informed framework, you'll create a safe, calm, and structured environment where young people can rest and feel secure.

You'll play a crucial role in promoting their emotional wellbeing overnight while ensuring the home remains safe, clean, and responsive to their needs. This is not just a night job -- it's a vital part of a therapeutic journey.

What You'll Do

Provide overnight support, ensuring young people are safe, settled, and emotionally supported Build safe, trusting relationships and act as a positive role model Respond to emotional or behavioural needs in a calm, therapeutic manner Conduct regular welfare checks and maintain accurate records Act as a key worker, contributing to care plans and overnight reports Work collaboratively with daytime staff, families, and professionals Support morning routines and transitions where required Promote safeguarding and adhere to care and risk management protocols Carry out domestic tasks to maintain a safe, clean environment overnight
What We're Looking For

Essential:



A genuine passion for working with children and young people Experience in residential childcare or a similar care setting Willingness to work towards (or hold) a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to remain awake, alert, and emotionally responsive throughout the night Full UK driving licence

Desirable:



Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent Experience supporting young people with trauma, SEMH needs, or neurodiverse conditions (e.g., ASD, ADHD) Knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding frameworks
