21:30-07:30 on a rolling rota (Monday-Sunday)

Waking Nights Care Worker

to join our team in Reading and provide overnight support to children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

This isn't just nightwatch work. It's a role where you offer emotional safety, therapeutic care, and unwavering support -- helping children feel seen, soothed, and safe through the most vulnerable hours of the day.

What You'll Be Doing:

Emotional Support:

Offer a calming presence and a listening ear to young people during the night

Therapeutic Routine:

Create consistency and comfort through structured, nurturing care

Safety First:

Maintain a secure environment and respond effectively to incidents if they arise

Daily Records:

Log key observations, update care plans, and contribute to overall home management

Team Contribution:

Work collaboratively with daytime staff to ensure continuity of care

Positive Role Modelling:

Lead with empathy, patience, and professionalism at all times

What You Bring:

Experience working with children or young people with emotional and behavioural challenges (preferred) A genuine passion for helping young people heal, grow, and build trust Resilience, patience, and emotional maturity Clear written and verbal communication skills Willingness to work toward (or already hold) a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or NVQ CYP Workforce Must be 23+ to comply with Ofsted regulations
