to join our team in Reading, supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
This is more than a night-time monitoring role -- it's about creating a peaceful, trauma-informed environment where young people feel safe, supported, and able to rest. Your steady presence during the night will provide a vital foundation for healing and stability.
About the Role
As a
Waking Night Support Worker
, you will play a critical part in maintaining the emotional and physical wellbeing of the young person in our solo residential home. You'll work as part of a close-knit, professional team that values purpose, empathy, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a calm, reassuring presence throughout the night
Offer emotional support aligned with trauma-informed practices
Follow and support consistent bedtime routines and care plans
Ensure a safe, secure environment and confidently manage any incidents
Maintain accurate records and contribute to daily handovers
Collaborate effectively with daytime colleagues for seamless care
Act as a positive role model with professionalism and empathy
What We're Looking For
Experience supporting children or young people with emotional and behavioural needs (preferred)
A calm, patient, and emotionally resilient nature
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
A genuine passion for supporting children through challenging circumstances
A willingness to work towards (or possession of) a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
Must be 23 years old or over (Ofsted requirement)
