The Role
The
Inventory Controller
will be responsible for overseeing the management of inventory systems and processes across the organization. This role will ensure that stock levels are maintained at optimal levels, inventory accuracy is achieved, and operational efficiencies are improved.
You'll be responsible for supporting 1 member of staff, work closely with warehouse, procurement, and finance departments, as well as implement strategies for better stock management.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Oversee and manage daily inventory control activities, ensuring accurate stock levels and order fulfilment.
Monitor stock movement and usage to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Team support:
Provide clear direction, support, and guidance to inventory staff (1 member).
Ensure team adherence to established inventory control procedures and company policies.
Inventory Forecasting & Planning:
Analyse historical data and trends to forecast inventory needs.
Collaborate with procurement and production teams to ensure appropriate stock levels are maintained.
System Management:
Utilize inventory management software to track and update inventory.
Implement and optimize inventory tracking technologies (e.g., RFID, barcode scanning).
Process Improvement:
Identify areas of improvement within the inventory control process and suggest solutions.
Continuously seek ways to reduce costs, waste, and inefficiencies within inventory management.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare regular reports on inventory performance, including stock levels, discrepancies, and trends.
Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations within the warehouse and inventory management processes.
Experience, skills and knowledge required:
Proven experience (2+ years) in inventory control, warehouse management, or supply chain operations.
Experience in a supervisory role in inventory management, desirable.
Familiarity with inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar systems).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficient in MS Excel and other reporting tools.
Knowledge of inventory forecasting and planning techniques.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Highly organized with a strong ability to prioritize tasks.
A keen eye for continuous process improvement and operational efficiency.
Ability to lift and move items as needed (if applicable).
