Job Description

Based in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire, Abram Pulman & Sons Ltd (Est. 1830) is a well-established steel stockholder and processor serving customers throughout Yorkshire and Lancashire. We are currently seeking a reliable and focused individual to join our production team as a Warehouse Picker & Fork Truck Driver

The role involves taking a proactive position in managing stock entering and leaving the department. You will be responsible for the safe operation of our multi-directional fork truck within a narrow aisle racking system, ensuring that all stock is handled correctly, whether by fork truck, overhead crane, or manually. Good organisational skills and the ability to plan your day effectively are essential to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and on time. A full driving licence is desirable.

You will be expected to become proficient, after training, in the following tasks:

Operating the multi-directional fork truck to load and unload from the racking system. Unloading and checking incoming stock. Using the overhead crane to load and unload stock into our racking bins. Picking materials from racking bins for sawing and replenishing the bins with offcuts. o Picking materials from both the racking bins and offcut racks to fulfil sales orders for dispatch. Carrying out daily checks on the fork truck and ensuring the truck is left to recharge at the end of your shift. Using the computer system to relocate stock and print off lot labels, ensuring they are correctly affixed to products and bins. Assisting with loading and unloading the saws as required. Helping to empty the scrap bins using the counterbalance truck when needed. Adhering to health and safety requirements and working safely at all times. Maintaining a clean and organised work area. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including ear defenders, will be provided, and it is mandatory to wear it at all times while on the shop floor.

Early Shift Details:

Hours of work: 39 hours per week Monday - Thursday: 6:00 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. Friday: 6:00 a.m. to 1:10 p.m. o Includes a 30-minute paid lunch break and a 10-minute unpaid break each day Please note: These hours may be subject to change in line with business requirements.
Salary: 25,518.55 per annum Holidays: 25 days per year, plus 8 bank holidays (holiday year runs from January to December)
