Weekend Chef/Cook
to join our friendly kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in preparing fresh, high-quality food, enjoys working in a customer-focused environment, and values a daytime-only schedule with key holidays off.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our
deli station
, producing a variety of freshly made-to-order items, including:
Hot and cold sandwiches
Paninis
Jacket potatoes
Fresh deli salads and accompaniments
This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced kitchen that requires attention to detail, good time management, and the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene at all times.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and serve deli-style menu items to a consistent high standard
Manage mise en place for the deli station, ensuring readiness for service
Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Ensure all food is labelled and stored correctly, in line with health and safety regulations
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area during and after service
Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and timely service
Monitor portion control, reduce food waste, and ensure cost-effective preparation
Adhere to all food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen protocols
Assist with stock rotation and notify management of any stock shortages
Contribute to occasional menu development or seasonal specials
Provide a positive, professional attitude in a customer-facing environment
Requirements
Previous experience working in a kitchen or deli setting preferred
Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organisational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and customer service focus
Willingness to work weekends exclusively
A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to handle a busy service period
