Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Installation Engineer to join one of our experienced installation teams. This role is critical to delivering the high-quality installations that QBD Ltd is renowned for. You will be responsible for the professional installation of windows, doors, and conservatories, ensuring every project meets our exacting standards and exceeds customer expectations.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will handle everything from site preparation and product installation to customer demonstrations and site documentation, all while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Technical Work
Check all dimensions and specification prior to installation
Remove old windows, doors, and conservatories safely and efficiently
Prepare openings for new product installation, ensuring proper measurements and structural integrity
Install windows, doors, and conservatories to manufacturer specifications and QBD Ltd quality standards
Attach hardware, sealing, and finishing components with precision and attention to detail
Repair existing windows, doors, and conservatories previously installed by QBD Ltd
Work with various materials including uPVC, aluminium, Ultraframe, timber, Velfac, and Rationel products
Ensure all installations are weatherproof, secure, and aesthetically finished to a high standard
Health, Safety & Site Management
Adhere to all safety regulations and company health and safety policies at all times
Assess sites prior to installation and complete Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS) on fitting sheets - Upload to CRM through iPad
Report any safety issues immediately to the Operations Team
Maintain clean and tidy work areas throughout the installation process
Ensure site boards are displayed at all installations and upload photo to CRM.
Work safely at height when required, following all relevant safety procedures
Tools, Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
Regularly inspect and maintain all tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working order
Maintain clean and tidy company vans at all times
Keep warehouse and yard areas organised and clean
Report any equipment faults or maintenance requirements promptly
Ensure all tools and materials are properly stored and secured
Communication & Documentation
Report any product issues to the Operations Team via iPad / CRM, including clear photos
Take progress photos at the end of every day and send via Business Pilot app
Complete all site documents accurately and upload completed documents to Business Pilot app once the job is completed
Clock in / out with Bright App including relevant information and holiday requests
Communicate professionally with team members, office staff, and suppliers
Customer Service
Demonstrate how to use products correctly to customers when they are available on-site
Represent QBD Ltd professionally at all times on customer properties
Maintain respectful and courteous interactions with customers
Leave customer properties clean, tidy, and free from installation debris
Answer basic customer questions and direct more complex queries to the Operations Team
Assess & diagnose service calls when required
RequirementsEssential
Experience:
Minimum 2 years' experience in fenestration installation (windows, doors, conservatories)
Technical Skills:
Proven ability to install uPVC, aluminium, and/or timber windows and doors to a high standard
Driving Licence:
Full UK driving licence (essential for driving company vehicles)
Physical Fitness:
Ability to lift heavy materials and work at height safely
Safety Awareness:
Understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
Attention to Detail:
High standards of workmanship and finishing
Communication:
Good verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Problem-Solving:
Ability to identify and resolve installation challenges on-site
Reliability:
Punctual, dependable, and committed to completing work to schedule
Preferred
Experience with premium fenestration brands (Origin, George Barnsdale, Velfac, Rationel, Ultraframe)
FENSA certification
CSCS card or willingness to obtain
Experience working on high-end residential properties
Knowledge of building regulations related to fenestration installations
First Aid certification
Experience with conservatory and glazed roof installations

Working Hours & Schedule
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
