Yardsman working for a small family run business

Hours:

8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Monday to Friday)

Breaks:

30-minute paid break + 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Reports To:

Workshop Manager / Operations Manager

Overview:

We are looking for a reliable and proactive Yardsman to join our team. This role is vital in keeping the yard and surrounding workshop areas clean, organised, and running smoothly. The ideal candidate will take pride in maintaining a safe and efficient workspace, with a hands-on attitude and flexibility to assist across various parts of the business as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the yard and around workshop areas Organise packs of timber and materials for easy access and efficiency Receive, check, and document deliveries and collections Put away doors, windows, and other components safely and methodically Ensure stock is correctly stored and clearly labelled Assist with spray painting tasks using an airless sprayer (training can be provided) Keep tools, machinery, and equipment stored properly and safely Report any stock shortages or damages to the relevant supervisor Carry out minor general maintenance and ad-hoc workshop support duties Act as a flexible team member, stepping in to assist where needed across the business

Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in a similar yard or workshop role is preferred Familiarity with timber products and construction materials is an advantage Comfortable using basic tools and handling manual tasks Experience using an airless sprayer is a plus (or willingness to learn) Forklift licence preferred but not essential (training can be arranged) Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean and safe workspace Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
