Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Accountant to join one of the South West's leading subcontractors operating in the roofing & cladding sector. The company is seeking a new member to join their small, friendly team.

We are looking for someone with the commitment and enthusiasm to embrace this role and become a pivotal member of the team. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will progress to a senior level and therefore is expected to show initiative and the potential to manage and develop colleagues along with the interests of the business.

Experience within a similar role is essential. Experience within the construction industry would be hugely beneficial.

The role requires you to be based in the office at Honiton, Devon



Reporting into the Directors

Responsibilities



Managing the finance assistant and leading the day-to-day accounting function

Managing the sales ledger, creating applications for payment and invoices and processing receipts. Chasing outstanding debts.

Preparation of monthly trial balance, profit and loss, balance sheet, to include calculation of accruals, prepayments, depreciation and WIP alongside balance sheet reconciliations

Preparation of Monthly VAT returns

Preparation of monthly management accounts to include review and analysis of variances and trends

Liaising with accountants regarding preparation of Statutory Accounts

Processing of monthly payroll to include all related duties such as PAYE, pension contributions, statutory payments

Input of bank payments to online banking portal

Assist in contract reviews, project costings and commercial analysis

Cash forecasting and other financial reporting

Requirements



Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Experience of month-end and year-end close processes, financial reporting, and cash flow forecasting

Collaborative approach, working well in diverse teams across operational functions

Excellent IT skills, especially in excel and a finance package preferably Sage

Additional skills/experience (desirable but not essential)
