Job Description

Uniserve is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Central Finance team in Upminster. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to broaden their skills in a collaborative environment and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations.


As an Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the month-end and year-end processes, preparing financial reconciliations, maintaining the fixed asset register, and ensuring compliance with tax and statutory reporting requirements. The role also involves regular collaboration with the Operational Finance team and contributing to audit preparations.

Key Responsibilities:



Manage month-end processes: accruals, prepayments, journals, payroll, fixed assets, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany accounts. Oversee year-end reporting: align financial statements, prepare audit packs, and handle audit queries. Process and upload bank payments; prepare quarterly VAT returns (UK & Dutch entities). Support tax compliance and reporting, including deferments, VAT, and corporation tax. Provide weekly sales reports and raise/process ad hoc invoices. Administer accounting systems and ensure accurate system controls. Complete statutory reporting (ONS surveys) and certificates of residency. Prepare and submit Certificates of Residency for relevant entities.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

+ ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified.
+ Strong accounting knowledge and experience in month-end and year-end processes.
+ Excellent Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations).
+ Minimum 5 years' professional accounting experience.
Desirable:

+ Knowledge of accounting and ERP systems such as Cargowise, Sage, Open Accounts, or Multifreight.
+ Working knowledge of deferments, VAT compliance, and corporation tax.
+ Strong organisational and time management skills.
+ Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise across departments and with external stakeholders.
