Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and accounting practices, with proficiency in accounting software. This role involves maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Accountant will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and PeopleSoft.
Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
Conduct financial accounting tasks including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing activities.
Prepare and present financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
Manage tax submissions, including corporation tax, VAT, and payroll taxes.
Provide insights into financial performance through detailed reporting and analysis.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support strategic planning.
Mentor junior accountants and provide guidance on best practices in financial management.
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards (IFRS/UK GAAP) and financial regulations.
Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights that support business decisions.
Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and reports as required.
Experience & Requirements
Proven experience as an Accountant or in a similar role within the financial services sector.
ACCA qualification (or equivalent professional accounting qualification).
MBA or postgraduate degree in finance, management, or related field (advantageous).
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and UK GAAP.
Hands-on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, etc.).
Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication skills.
Previous experience in mentoring or training staff is advantageous but not essential.
Salary and Conditions
Salary:
33,400 per annum (with potential for progression based on performance and company policy).
Hours:
37.5 - 40 hours per week.
