Role Description:



This is a full-time role for an Architectural Technician with a minimum of 3-5 years post-graduation experience, based in Milton Keynes with flexibility for travel to national sites. You will work closely with our Design Manager and wider project team to support the design and delivery of refurbishment and fit-out projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in a technical architectural role, including experience working on higher-risk buildings (HRBs) under the new regulatory regime. You will work with consultants, and site teams to ensure that all designs meet regulatory standards and project requirements. You must have excellent attention to detail, be capable of multitasking, are able to work independently and as part of a team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:



Technical Drawing & Documentation:



- Produce and coordinate detailed technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.

- Ensure drawing packages meet the requirements of RIBA Stages 3-6, and support the compilation of tender, construction and as-built packs.

- Maintain drawing registers and manage with document control of drawings.

- Produce technical details, schedules, and specifications at all stages.

Design Coordination & Compliance:



- Liaise with design consultants, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure technical compliance.

- Provide technical input into design development, focusing on buildability, coordination, and regulation compliance.

- Ensure that designs for HRB projects meet Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 requirements, including appropriate fire and structural safety provisions.

Regulatory Knowledge & Standards:



- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, CDM 2015 and relevant British Standards.

- Prepare information for building control, planning applications and fire safety reviews as required.

Project & Site Support:



- Carry out site visits to undertake measured surveys, verify conditions and provide technical support during construction.

- Respond to RFIs, coordinate technical queries, and assist in monitoring compliance with design intent on-site.

- Support with compiling record drawings and post-completion documentation.

Collaboration & Communication:



- Attend Design Team Meetings (DTMs) and support communication between stakeholders.

- Proactively manage your own workload, while collaborating with colleagues across disciplines.

Professional Development:



- Participate in structured learning including CPDs, site-based learning, and mentoring.

- Work towards professional accreditation (e.g., CIAT or RIBA) with support from the business.

By fulfilling these duties and responsibilities, the Architectural Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects, meeting client expectations, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Qualifications/skills required:



- Minimum 3-5 years experience working in an Architectural Technician or Technologist role within the UK construction industry.

- Experience working on Higher Risk Buildings (HRBs) with an understanding of relevant regulatory compliance requirements.

- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and document control platforms.

- Sound understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standards.

- Ability to produce coordinated, buildable technical drawings and resolve design queries.

- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work independently and within a team, managing multiple project deadlines.

- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Additional Requirements:



- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to national sites as required.

- Working toward or holding professional accreditation with CIAT or RIBA is desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 25,000.00-28,000.00 per year
