Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Coffee Shop Manager to lead our new team at Ori Caffe within the John Lewis Store Southampton in delivering exceptional service and high-quality products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality and food service, with a passion for coffee and culinary excellence. This role requires effective leadership skills to manage staff, ensure operational efficiency, and maintain the highest standards of food safety and customer satisfaction.

Duties

Oversee daily operations of the coffee shop, ensuring smooth service and adherence to quality standards. Manage food preparation and production processes, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Supervise and train staff, fostering a positive team environment while promoting professional development. Maintain inventory levels, placing orders for supplies as necessary to ensure availability of products. Implement effective customer service strategies to enhance guest experiences and encourage repeat business. Monitor financial performance, including sales tracking and cost control measures. Ensure cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and serving areas, adhering to food safety protocols. Collaborate with the team to develop new menu items that reflect current trends and customer preferences.

Skills

Proven experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant or coffee shop environment. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively. Excellent culinary skills with experience in food preparation, cooking, and presentation. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production. Previous barista experience is highly desirable, along with an understanding of coffee brewing techniques. Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on hospitality and guest satisfaction. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
