Assistant Greenkeeper

Reports to:

Course Manager

Based at: Weybrook Park, Rooksdown Lane, Basingstoke, Hants, RG24 9NT

Job Type:

Full-time, Permanent. Salary based on experience & qualifications. Hours are from early morning to early afternoon throughout the year.

Essential Skills

To be able to achieve a high level of attention to detail in all tasks being undertaken. The ability to carry out multiple tasks required as part of a greenkeeper's skill set. Flexibility in working hours as shifts including weekend work on a rota basis. Knowledgeable in the use of greenkeeping equipment. Hard working, friendly attitude.

Desirable Skills

Experience as a greenkeeper is preferred. Chainsaw certificates in felling and cross-cutting. Irrigation maintenance, repair, and use. Spraying Certificates PA1, PA2 and PA6.

To carry out routine golf course maintenance tasks as directed by the Course Manager, in accordance with the Club's Health and Safety Policy.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities will include, but not limited to:

Cut tees, greens, surrounds, fairways, rough, and semi-rough, Strim & Hover Mow all peripheral areas. Set up the golf course, including changing holes, moving tee markers, divotting, indicating OOB, Drop zones and hazards. Switch and brush greens. Apply top dressing and fertiliser. Identify and control pests and diseases. Renovate worn and damaged turf. Prepare and maintain machinery. Rake Bunkers and apply new sand where appropriate.
These tasks are not exhaustive and from time-to-time there may be duties asked of you around the business that are not contained in this .
