Lexden Wood Golf Club, established in 1993, is a progressive golf club that has undergone significant transformation under new ownership since December 2024. Located in Colchester, the club has seen substantial investment in course improvements including robot mowers, new eco bunkers, fixed irrigation systems, new paths, modern signage, new buggies, and updated machinery. With ambitious plans for the future, we are seeking an Assistant Greenkeeper to join our team and contribute to delivering the highest standards of course presentation and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head Greenkeeper and deputy in daily course maintenance operations
Operate and maintain a range of greenkeeping machinery safely and effectively
Assist with robot mower systems management (training provided)
Carry out bunker maintenance and construction work
Implement agronomic plans including fertilizer application and disease management
Prepare the course for tournaments and events to high standards
Follow health and safety protocols and safe working practices
Assist with irrigation system operation and maintenance
Maintain excellent presentation standards across all areas of the course
Communicate effectively with team members and management
Support environmental and sustainability initiatives
Embrace the use of online task management systems
The successful candidate will:
Have greenkeeping experience or relevant qualifications in Sports Turf Management
Possess or be willing to work towards relevant spraying certifications
Have basic knowledge of course maintenance and machinery operation
Demonstrate good mechanical skills for machinery operation and basic maintenance
Hold a full UK driving license (desirable)
Have good communication and interpersonal skills
Show enthusiasm, reliability, and strong work ethic
Be flexible to work weekends, early mornings, and during peak season
Have a willingness to learn and develop skills
Additional certifications in machinery operation, first aid, or specialist equipment (desirable)
